I woke up today at 10:40 am. I stayed up last night until after 2am reading Roger Ebert movie reviews.

I'm unemployed.

There's little that you can tell others about yourself that shows how judgmental they are, than the fact that you are not employed.

It comes with a certain amount of privilege, certainly. Were I to have student debt, medical debt, credit card debt, or family debt, I almost certainly would not the time I have now. Or I wouldn't enjoy it as much, and it would cost a hefty price: in interest, foreclosure; and if I were to have a family, it could cause a split or a lack of financial support that is all but required for minors to survive in this society.

Historically, I've been employed. School, the pseudo-employment of my youth, occupied my time, and I was quick to occupy myself with internships each summer. Out of college I worked at the first full-time job opportunity I found (to be continued)

But anyways the conclusion is that we're better able to take care of ourselves when we're not expected to work for 8 hours each weekday for some other entity
