well I got lima working again. It broke after I uninstalled homebrew qemu. Had to rebuild qemu from source. There was some uefi file "/usr/local/share/qemu/edk2-x86_64-code.fd" I was missing which I found online just fine and could hack into that location, but I was probably missing something else.
